Summer Challenges 2015

The Summer Challenges are an exciting series of non-timed excursions where you get to decide how far you cycle: 75, 100, 125 or 150 km? How many climbs and descents? At a brisk or gentle pace? Challenge yourself as much as you want, depending on your level of fitness or energy, or your mood on the day of the event!

The Metropolitan Challenge
Sunday, May 24 • Start/finish: Châteauguay
Every year, during the Go Bike Montréal Festival, the Metropolitan Challenge kicks off the season in style. The 3,000 participants in this recreational cycling event, which features neither stopwatch nor podium, are happy to join other avid cyclists and push their limits, while benefitting from outstanding supervision. This year’s route begins in Châteauguay and takes you through Saint-Urbain-Premier, Howick and Ormstown. On your mark, get set, go!

The Lanaudière-Mauricie Challenge
Saturday, June 20 • Start/finish:
Berthierville
Just north of Îles de Berthier and Lac Saint-Pierre, your route revisits a page of Québec history. It follows a portion of the very first Chemin du Roy (King’s Highway), inaugurated in 1737, between Berthier — then a lunch stop — and Louiseville, as well as its current route on highway 138. This stop led to the adaptation of the Normandy song Sur la route de Louviers to Sur la route de Berthier, now a Québec classic. The stage is set for a historic performance!

The Eastern Townships Challenge
Saturday, September 12 • Start/finish:
Coaticook
While the hills and vales of Estrie can be challenging, the scenery is definitely breathtaking. A workout for the legs and a feast for the eyes - and this year will be no exception!  Your route begins in Parc de la Gorge de Coaticook, a kind of magical forest, famous for its suspended footbridge, and goes through East Hereford, Saint-Malo — at an altitude of 580 m — and Martinville. Here, physical exertion is motivated by the beauty of the countryside…
